Those cute GIANT PANDAs.. at the breeding grounds

my panda friend in Chengdu Panda Breeding Ground...

Giant Pandas are by nature solitary animals, for most of the time avoiding direct contact with others of their own kind. But at crucial stages of their lifes Pandas are forced to spend time with each others. In spring, they seek each other in order to mate and in autumn the females give birth to a single cub which will be their constant companion for the next 18 months or so.

on fours !

Pandas signify aggression by lowering thier heads and staring at their opponents. To signal submissiveness, a panda will put its head between its front legs, often hide its eye patches with its paws. This position is adopted by the females during mating, and also be captive animals that are being harrassed by humans. At close range aggression is signaled by a swipe with a paw or a low-pitched growl or bark...
Attempts to breed pandas in capivity in China began in 1955 but it was in 1963 that Ming Ming the first ever captive-bred giant panda was born in Beijing Zoo.
The Chinese govt set up the special reserch center to improve the captive breeding such as Wolong Reserch Center and a panda breeding facility near Chengdu.
The main threat to survival of pandas is the destruction of their habitat. In the last 30years Sichuan has lost some 30percent of its forests and no longer provides suitable panda habitat.
Whatever the number of pandas surviving in the wild, it is quite clear that giant pandas will become extinct in the next century unless more steps are taken to protect its habitat.

the RED PANDA ...yes but dont really look like a normal panda...
